Painting finished. Was going to pay someone but was getting quotes for two grand plus materials, which whike not a bad quote for a hallway, two landings and two staircases, was more than I was willing to spend.
So 6 weeks on, albeit interrupted mid project by a mini stroke, andnits done. I went out to town with prep, filling fine cracks, masking, touching in the glossy and then doing the walls and it paid off. Looks grand.
At Mrs D's urging I did the ceilings the same colour, what interior designers call a "colour wash". Apparently a colour drench is when you also do the glossy the same colour which might be fine for a gun room kr gentleman's study but a bit OTT for a hallway.
The colour is slightly more grey jn hue than the photos auggest, and Mrs D is out as we speak choosing, lamp shades.
Note understairs cupboard I built earlier in the year. Prior to that all the space under the stairs was boxed off and wasted.
