Now think about this ... the commentary only applies at places where you have to make a decision: go right or left or under a tunnel or something. So when people come to a place like that, they switch on their mp3 player, or if they're being more clever they listen to the next checkpoint in advance. The only other thing is that the descriptions of the points have to be clear enough so that no-one could mistake one for another.

nah, they won't be arsed to keep switching it on and off at every junction. What about in towns and villages where there's quite a high frequency of junctions but still quite a variation in the time people will take to get through it due to traffic etc?

The idea is not that people should navigate according to an mp3 file. Rather I'm suggesting that it would be a useful extra security check to people who will principally be navigating from a guidebook or map in the conventional way.

Quarterly would work well is that not how Singletrack started out and just look at them now.

Yeah, but we lived on beans on toast for 3 years and worked 18 hour days out of a tiny office with borrowed furniture and 2 Macs between the three of us. It was really flippin hard work.

I think you'd be certifiable to start a paper magazine today in the current climate, especially on something as non-sexy as just general cycling. Do a magazine style website instead. The web has come on leaps since we started Singletrack in 2000 when I was still worrying about dial-up users and fighting with the OS about maps. Build on your community. Make it warm. Do it in a way the big publishers just don't get because they simply can't.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there - you might as well call it "bumbling times" or "hybrids monthly"...

I think you've found the magazine title, albeit accidentally ... I like it xx(

"Bumbling Times", that should convey to the magazine buying public exactly what it's all about nicely:wacko:

"Bumbling Times"-Sounds more like a periodical for bee keeping or specialist homosexual pursuits to me.

It was inadvertantly suggested by bonj, which is ironic, as he is our SOLE and EXCLUSIVE serious cyclist on the ENTIRE forum!
