I like the idea! I would think that a bi-monthly or perhaps quarterly would work well and a PDF format as opposed to printed version (to cut out all the expense and messing about) sounds good

Quarterly would work well is that not how Singletrack started out and just look at them now. Have wrote reviews in the past when I was involved with mtbuk in fact we actually did the first review beat all the magazines on Hope's Vision Light when it came out and wangled my way onto the media list for The Collective.

Not done any writing for ages but am willing to contribute.

Well I'm happy to volunteer for the proofing/editing as required, seeing as that's my job and I've got plenty of spare time. If no-one else wants to typeset it then I can do that too.

I'm also happy to share proofing, I help to do it at Velo Vision, and only the odd gaffe gets through....

Quarterly might be a good start. Quarterly comes round remarkably quickly - esp when you also have an office move to fit in before mid June...;)

Thinking about reviews - either you need to get stuff sent - for which you need the supplier to trust you to send it back, and therefore perhaps you need a certain reputation, or you need contributors to buy new kit and review it - so you might end up with fairly frequent reviews of new £20 lights, but reviews of bikes are going to be rarer. And I can't remember the last bike related thing I bought new. Oh, yes I can, a £1 hi-vis ankle band from the pound shop... (Happy to review it if anyone wants me too;))

Anyway, my point is that reviews might have to take second place to things we can definitely 'get hold of' - touring reports, route ideas, bike building projects, tips, knowhow, history (;)) etc... Plus any odds and ends deemed suitable by the editor/editorial panel...

A suggestion is to ask everyone to give a critical review of their own bike (maybe kit etc as well later), preferably based on a points/10 system for all the various features of 'a bike' - equipment, comfort, task suitability etc.

Using a 'standard template' could give some useful info - particularily for beginners. With the wide variety of bikes being ridden on CC, it could be quite a resource "by real cyclists" ;)

Okay, so what about a name?

A quick Google search didn't give any hits for Cycling Life magazine.

A quarterly PDF to start with, published and announced via the forums?

Strapline: A CycleChat.co.uk community cycling publication; by cyclists, for cyclists

Well, it's just a thought - I'm pretty sure some of you can come up with much better ones!!

Cheers,
Shaun
