How access Garmin hard drive

Hi all,

My new Garmin etrex Vista HCX turned up yesterday. As expected the map is rubbish so I want to upload the one from Andy Gates' website.

I've hit a snag, in his instructions he says ....
".... 2: Connect your Garmin and go to Setup > Interface > Mass Storage Mode.
3: Your Garmin is now a USB stick. Locate the garmin folder on it......"

For some reason I can't see the hard drive for my garmin in Windows explorer. Windows is only showing up the 2gb SD card that I've put into the unit, so therefore I can't see the garmin folder. HELP !!!

If you've never used the card with Garmin software it won't have been created yet.
Just create a "garmin" folder (right-click -> new...) on the SD card, and then copy Andy's gmapsupp.img file into it.

excellent, thanks looks like it has worked

not sure how though, as there is only a single map choice in the maps option, so not sure why the old map isn't in there as a possible selection. :-)
