What a bunch of cripples we are

So, what you are saying is that, having just started cycling again, I have all of this to look forwards too??

Mine are knackered, before I take up cycling. Right one, dislocated at least a dozen times, complete rebuild two years ago. Left one, dislocated twice, most recently last month (walking the next day I found the post op one was worse lol) awaiting fresh physio.

But hoping that the cycling will actually improve my knee strength.

Anyone who moans about their knees is, undoubtedly, a clunge-faced ratcatcher of the highest echelon. Shut up, get on with it and stow that whinge.

Strangely Paul, that's what I did.

The surgeons' were hovering over my knee, scalpels sharpened, saying you need an operation.

I refused and just spent time in the gym rebuilding my quads and I get a bit of pain occasionally, but nothing to whinge about. Depends a lot on the knee problem of course.

Mind you, my back is bloody killing me. I knackered it helping my brother move his warehouse of books last weekend. A box of 24 hardback books weighs about 50 tonnes BTW - especially if you are lifting it from the top of a 3 storey warehouse while clinging to a ladder with one hand - and we had a big warehouse to empty

Cycling is excellent for knee strength...... depends upon how 'keen you are'..... and your long term goals.........

Generally it's brill............... fitness health, non impact etc........ BUT you do have to be careful of twist injuries if you get into cycling more than 'other stuff'........ - i.e. other sports..............

Left knee grumbles a bit now and then, usually when I've gone further/harder than usual. A support bandage over night, or a rest, sorts it out. I will, I suspect, have to get it sorted properly at some point in the future.

All parts working fine with me.

In my opinion, if anyone is knackering their knees through cycling they should pay more attention to their cycling than their knees as they must be doing something wrong every time they get on a bike.

I agree - my knee was knackerd playing tennis.

Cycling has been the kindest rehab on the knees I've found - if you have the set-up right.

If not, you will knacker your knees (if your saddle is too low for example).

I get dry peeling skin on the tips of my fingers, from my work gloves. Does that count?

Otherwise, I'm remarkably lucky.

Touch Wood.

Dry peeling skin?

Work gloves?

Have you considerd mangaman plc. no win no fee compensation? You'll have seen the ads I'm sure, and remember the logo - sung by a cross between a Meerkat and a 3 day old kitten - "when unfortunate random events happen I can sometimes make money out of them"

Remember - where there's some dry peeling skin involved, huge cash payouts are sure to follow.
