And so the commuting season has come to a close. I've been battling the man flu/norovirus/chesty cough/throbbing headache

for the last 10 days, so I've had a few sick days, and the rest I had to resort to the motorbike. That means 3 weeks without my daily 24 mile ride. That's plenty long enough to fall out of shape, so now I'm better I've committed to going for a long ride at least every 3rd day. The upside to being poorly is that I've lost 1/2 a stone (11 6 now!)

My keep fit plan is this. I'm picking up a Scott Sub40 on Monday. I figure that I'll use it when the snow's too deep for the trike, and also it will be better suited for using with a turbo trainer (I'm looking on ebay right now for one.) So come Jan 7th (which will be here before we know it) I should be ready.:training:

So that's my plan. What's yours?

I'm just going to kick back and chill!

I am doing a big ride on new years day but that will be a case of just turning up in whatever state I am in (hungover, stuffed full of Christmas food and lacking training). Any loss of fitness will soon return once the commute recommences in the new year.

Rest and recovery, eat and sleep well plus a few long gentle rides to keep the legs in shape, I've got the sniffles at the moment so had to stop using the turbo earlier than planned, but that doesn’t matter as I need to get the sniffles out the way before I start pushing myself.

It will come back quick enough. Hope to get out for a few 20 to 30 mile spins over the hols, but first chance yesterday was on hold as I had really bad undercarriage pain (recent op). Settled down a little today, but been tidying the house.

I seem to be getting it right at the moment, it was dry yesterday so I got out for a potter round, its been p****** down today and I've been shopping and cleaning, the forecast tomorrow is dry so I'll be able to get out for a potter round again.

No intentions of keeping my high fitness level up during the holiday, just spend January huffing and puffing to and from work as usual
It is entirely possible I won't do any cycling at all over Christmas

It's very likely I won't do any either, but come the hard Jan and Feb commutes, we will be back on target, if slow and full of mince pies ! I usually bin the bike over Xmas, I was hoping to get a couple of rides in, but it depends on weather, and my undercarriage.

As Fossy said, it doesn't take long to get back into the commuting thing if you have been off for a while
As Sittingduck said.. means time for more rides.

I'm doing nowt. Both bikes have buckled rear wheels (broken spokes) and the mechanic from my LBS is off until January.
