How are we finding used prices?

Another positive, if prices of used bikes do indeed crash through the floor: Maybe they will become less attractive to those with a disposition towards helping themselves to other people's property and selling it on in an effort to fund their trashy lifestyle. Or am I just being a little bit (uncharacteristically) optimistic?

Fair point to a point; although I doubt that'll do much to deter the smackheads who either ride them into the ground or flog them on at a fraction of their true value for speed and convenience..

Note that they might not fall too far, with some buyers wanting to swap from a car to save costs. However, I do perceive those to also buy electric scooters instead whether legal or not.

Top end bikes might fall esp non disc and non aero bikes.

But prices for more mainstream bikes will be be pretty stable in imho.

Yes.
Many bikes that are stolen are just weighed in. Even nice ones. Others go to the poor souls who are trying to find the price of their next fix.
