If the hot water cold water doesn't work, try tapping the inner case lightly with a wooden meat hammer or rolling pin.
Tap and turn until you have gone round the whole thing. The vibrations may free it.

Just heat them in the oven; the big one will expand more than the small.

Was it flan or quiche you wanted to make? I think we should be told.

You will need in chronological order:

Many excellent suggestions, ta..
I was planning on making a quiche sometime. The pastry is from a shop, the rest of it is homemade.
Actually, if I make it in the smaller case it could separate them and also have a tasty snack as a celebration :okay:
I was thinking that as well, but would it work ?
certainly when water gets below 4c it expands until its frozen. but in the case of the flange dishes would it not just push up the sides as it freezes.
Once frozen does ice continue to expand ? i.e. is a cube of ice at -5c bigger or smaller than the same cube at -25c
Mastic around the edges ...simples...

It only needs to move a tiny amount to release..id have used my glass lifting suction device but i doubt Pete has one
