My wife got a call yesterday:

"I am from your I.S.P. and you have a virus on your P.C."

She played along whilst he gave her instructions - go to this page, go to that page. And then he said "and then type in the name of my company."

To which, her response was "and what is that given thay you're from my ISP?"

He asked her to wait a while, so she hung up.

Checking the messages a short time later, it seemed this gentleman called back and left a message as no one answered. It said "Hello, and fcuk off."

How charming. We are rather amused that he called back to tell us this though !

A couple of years ago I got a call from a phone company offering to update my phone for me. I declined and explained that I usually go to the Orange shop and examine the phones and their functions before upgrading at the counter.
The line went quiet for a moment and then the chap just said
'Pr*ck!'
'Er, excuse me?'
'C*nt'
'I'd like to speak to your manager now please'
'F*ck!'
And then the line went dead.

Having the number on my phone's recent calls register I phoned back and asked to speak to the manager. I then asked the manager if they recorded all the calls, to which he said yes. So I explained what just happened and he told me that he can check who called my number, and then check the recording and then talk to the caller.

He called me back later to say the chap was sacked.

I've had this sort of thing happen a few times, usually from companies selling phones or financial services and I use the same call back to report it to the manager. Quite a few of the managers reckon their staff must be really stupid as they all know the calls are recorded and logged.

I wonder if once you've worked in a call centre trying to sell phones for any length of time, you become so pissed off with life that finding entertaining ways to get sacked is a little light relief...

I have done a bit of call centre work. Believe me - after a while you beg to be sacked!

I worked for the local gas company and my day was one of two jobs;
1. Working down a list of phone numbers to call people who were a week late paying the bill and trying to get a card payment off them amongst the abuse.
2. Being on the problem help number. This was mostly getting people who did not like paying for gas phone up and say "you can shove your effin gas up your a***". Strange but we got this at least once a day but it is not a common saying. I always wondered how you could do that.

Someone wound me up and I said somthing like "you are not thick" but that was about as bad as I got.

We had a phone call from a double glazing company...

My wife asked if the windows were plastic and then proceeded to discuss the pros and cons, sizes and offers.

Eventually she agreed to a door, a front window and one (free for the kitchen)

The lad then tried to arrange a visit to measure up, and give us a price to which she replied that she would visit their show room!

After a short pause he asked her to repeat that... at which point she said that as it was a tent it would be no problem bringing it down, and could she collect it once they had fitted the new plastic replacement windows.

They weren't amused!
