Giving myself a goal I thought I'd see what all the fuss was a about in Chertsey. Sorry folks whom are flooded. Don't mean too be ghoulish but I distrust the media somewhset and wanted to see for myself. So, as expected, the Thames was an angry swolen unstoppable body of water. I've sailed all my life and know from experience that a seemingly tranquil body of water can grab your boat and twist tear at oars, rudders and ropes with swift ferocity.
Even so I thought I'd try the river path home. Not a hope. A few inches was fun. A couple more felt dangerous. Then I could not tell where the river started and the path stopped. I put my feet down into a foot of cold rivers and u turned.
I liked the idea of seeing what the media helis and over dramatic newscasters were showing, and maybe doing better than the cars, but my spidey sense was tingling and that body of water looked bl**dy dangerous. Anything above the hubs is tricky. Close to the river edge is risky.
