I met my wife at a dinner where we were seated either side of Professor Sir Vincent Wigglesworth. He must have been about 90 at the time and evidently hadn't switched his hearing aid on, so we rather rudely talked across him. The only thing I remember him saying was that he didn't dine out very often since youngsters these days "ate like dogs" and he couldn't keep up.
