How do you carry your camera?

I bought a Nikon AW100 a few yrs back precisely for bike rides, as it's waterproof, shockproof & freeze proof...meaning it can just sit in a jersey pocket. It's not the highest spec, but takes pretty decent photo's and can also do 1080p30 video and is also fairly small and light.

We had one of these in the shop for the longest time. It was an older version, and actually geared toward cyclists, if the illustrations were any cue. I myself usually carry a Sony compact (Cybershot G H-70) and that fits in a belt bag. If I have more things, I have Lowe Pros in 3 different sizes, any one of which can fit in a rack top bag.

If I'm only going a short distance, then I will just put my DSLR around my neck (using the neck strap) and zip my coat up, nice and safe and no one can see it. if going on a longer bike ride, then I put it in a backpack, as it gets a little heavy around your neck after a while.

I keep a compact camera in a jersey pocket for rides where I want to take photos, but I wrap the camera in a small plastic food bag. This keeps it dry if I get rained on, and also protects the camera from my own sweat on the warmer days.

It's too heavy for my bar bag and too big for the front pocket of my jacket. That leaves around my neck under my jacket or in the back zip pocket both of which feel wrong, but maybe I should actually try it. I know I could take a back pack for long rides.

In my basket along with tissues, keys, plasters, anti-bac wipes, wet wipes, stones, leaves, twigs, sometimes crab bait (although I prefer this to be in something behind me due to the smell), pens, pencils, dead flowers and spurious other items put there by small people

For most rides I just carry my phone, its not a great quality smart phone but the size I wanted, a Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo and as the name suggests goes in a soft case and my pocket.
Other rides I have a garmin virb movie camera attached to my bars, it can take a no bad still.
For last years TdF I bought one of the Nikon Cool pics, cheap but robust and carried that in a soft case in my rear pocket.

I've a couple of Nikon Coolpix that are over 10 years old and still on the job. One even has the raw conversion. I did that online, and was quite proud of myself, downloading firmware and all the such.

Bailer twine takes me back, always had numerous uses as a child, I know it's still used by my parents, though never seen it on the handlebars before! I had an uncle who used it as a belt

I've been known to pick some up walking through the fields if our landlady's dog had followed me, to use as a dog lead whilst walking him through the village
