Hi All,

I've taken back to running and cycling to lose some weight and generally get fitter but I'm struggling to get a hold on my eating habits. I've tried a couple of mobile apps to keep track of the calories that I'm consuming but I'm finding them quite fiddly and a pain as they are great for tracking but terrible for planning.

So I just wanted to know whether there were any good alternatives, and why they work for you?

I know some people are super organised with spreadsheets etc. Would you be happy to share your tips and tricks?

Without being funny, I try and eat normally. If you need to lose weight, try eating healthy, limiting portions and cutting out the "treats".

For planning ahead:
Eat more salad and vegetables
Eat more beans and pulses, nuts and seeds.
Lean meat only
Fish and Eggs are good.
Remove/reduce carbs such as bread, pasta, rice, potato (and use brown versions) and of course reduce Alcohol.
Keep cheese consumption low.
Don’t buy cake, biscuits, crisps, sugary shoot (inc energy drinks). Dilute fruit juice 50:50 with water.

Ride up to 30 miles with only water. Ride/run often.
Eat normally and don’t-try and compensate for exercise calories or ‘pre-load’.
