Might be a bit overkill but it's what I had lying around - I have a North Face beanie hat. It's tight as f*?&> and fits under my helmet nicely (with the notches on the back loosened off a bit.

I use an EDZ balaclava meant for motorcycling, on the coldest days.

Sometimes a thinsulate hat instead, or buff... all fit under the helmet.

if you wear a helmet you can use tinfoil. Just make sure you make a small hole in it to let the water vapour out.........

never had a problem with my head being cold - possibly because i never seem to sweat on my head.

The rest of my body can be dripping but my head is dry as a bone

If you put tin foil on your head I've heard it makes you crazy.

Or was that on a cat's head?

Or were you already crazy to put tin foil on your head?

Gawd knows - I won't be trying it in the near future.

Thanks to reading this thread I've just taken delivery of a Buff and an Altura skull cap. Tried them both last night and with my 20" neck the Buff does feel a little uncomfortable. Hopefully it'll relax with wear. The skull cap looks a bit daft, but it's very comfortable and fits over my melon without any problems, unlike Altura's tiny hood for its Night Vision Evo jacket.

I'll know more about how effective they are when I get out at the weekend.

I think there'll be a lot of people digging out their skullcaps/buffs tonight, looks like we will need them in the morning and the weekend :cold:
Going to try my new Aldi one, £2.99 bargain
