I hit my target of 4000 miles yesterday(set for me by a work mate),which i was hoping to do by the end of this month. It was hard work getting there as i only work 2.5 miles away so i was having to do long detours to and from work but i also done lots of cycling at weekends which i didnt used to do.Looking forward to going further next year now.

Time you enjoyed wasting was not wasted
As I did 3,301 miles last year, I wanted to cover 3,500 this year. I passed that a few weeks ago so set myself a new target of 4,000 miles.

My ride today took me up to 3,860.9, so I have 139.1 to do. I would have already passed that but haven't been out for a fortnight due to a knee problem. It seems to have cleared up now so back on the bike. The weather is going to be cold and icy in the next few days and I won't go out on the road on ice, but there should be enough above freezing days in the 22 left this year to get in the 4 or 5 rides needed.

Set myself 3,000 miles at the start of the year because the last two years I've come so close to that (like within 50 both times) but not been able to quite do it, so I said that this was the year I'd make the breakthrough. I thought that went out of the window after my crash in April, but after I got back to riding proper distances again in July, I had an amazingly good August-October which brought me back into the game - turns out I'm now just 195 miles short.

However, as I have invested recently in a cycle trainer, I'm now only going outside on the bike when the weather is good (and inside miles don't count to this target as far as I'm concerned), which will limit the amount of opportunities I have to knock off those remaining miles.

I started the year with a vague hope of doing at least 7000, maybe 8000.
I took stock a month or two back and decided that 7500 would be the 'target'. I hit that last weekend, but don't think I'll get to 8000 now.

I don't have a target but I know I didn't cycle as much as I wanted to, I started off really late this year and somehow never really got into it. Even a late October Spanish tour that I intended to use to grind out some miles.............. actually turned into a 10 day tour of Seville's bars.

Usual vague target of 5200ish - was on track then November virus wiped me out & December ice is making very unlikely, will be nice to reach 5000ish

At the start of 2017 I initially set myself a target of 10 miles per day. Due to unexpectedly (but very welcome) retiring from work at the end of March and much more free time I have greatly exceeded that target. Between mid May and the end of September I managed to rack up 10 x day century (miles) rides as well as some long distance trips over a few consecutive days and also quite a few forum rides. So I revised my annual target to 5000 miles and I have just 18 miles to complete and achieve the target which I will certainly peel off within the next 3 weeks. So well pleased with that. Especially, as since October, I have had a lot of family commitments that have meant restricting my rides to a lot of local 25 - 30 mile stints to fit in around things.

Like @ColinJ and @nickyboy living in the Pennines most of my miles are in a very hilly region so that helps greatly to maintain fitness levels. As @ColinJ has mentioned, indoor cycling can be great for fitness and with the current icy weather forecast to continue for at least another week and beyond I will be using my spinning bike in the cellar to maintain fitness.
