Bollocks, just noticed Ive only got 72 miles to do for my ticker but I break up for my 1st Xmas off work in 23 years on Friday. Does potching around to the shops and doing a couple of laps round the block count as a commute???

Oh hey, you need to finish with a flourish - a nice 72 mile outing on Saturday and we won't tell anyone that you weren't really going to work

i'm thinking of starting to commute after christmas, it will be 12 mile each way that i think will take about 50 mins. with me having to be at work by 5.45am, it was the reason i posted a question about marathon + in the accessories forum, any little bit of time saved will be loved!
just wondering how far you commute and do any of you start work early?

Commute two days a week, leaving at 06.30 getting to work for 7.45 doing 17miles each way

I've just signed up to a cycle scheme, and will be shopping for my new toy when the voucher arrives.
My journey each way is looking like around 12 miles, for a 9am start.
I expect it to take substantial amounts of time, and for me to be utterly knackered initially, but am hoping I can get it down to under an hour (including getting changed/having a shower when I get there).

Good luck with yours - I'm apprehensive, but keen - I used to cycle a lot, but it's only just (10 years on) got to a point where I'm able to cycle to work again.

Six miles each way - about 25 mins, which is 15 mins quicker than my old tube and train combo. Touch!

Mine depends where I am that night, and which site I'm teaching on. 2 days a week it's a tiny 1.8 each way. 2 other days it's 5 miles one way 1.8 the other, and Friday it's 7 miles one way and 8.5 the other!! I often extend my short rides back to the flat by another 6 miles around my part of the bay if I'm feeling up for it and it's not too windy.

And yes, I really do have to think about what the hell day it is every morning  it's working out well tho!!

Now done 2 months and not cheated a day. My motorbike is snuggled up in my GF's garage under a thermal cover and plugged into a battery maintainer
