As long as I breathe, I attack.
10 miles each way every working day with day and night shifts so i am on the road at 6am most days either going to or coming from work on mainly unlit country lanes with 450 feet of climbing each way.
Average time is 35 minutes , ranging from 32 to 40 minutes depending on how i feel and what the weather is like.

This question comes up regularly, I do a 13 mile round trip, 6.5 miles each way, 25 minutes each way.

Ditto!

I increase mine to 12.5 for one/both of the routes when I'm not commuting a unfriendly hours, and when the weathers not bad!

I just started this week. I did 10 miles each way in a leisurely hour on an old hybrid. I found having the right gear, so I could put layers on as required, very important. Should I gain some degree of fitness I **might** get quicker but that isn't too important to me.

A miserly 3 miles each way, but I go a different way uphill on the way home lol!

Love it. If I hadnt started doing those 6 miles a day, I wouldnt be doing the leisure/touring cycling now, get on your bike!

I'm a lightweight nowadays since moving to Horsham. A mile each way. Good for increasing sleep time, not good at matching the miles I was doing in Aldershot.

My October miles were dreadful, and its haunting my lovely 2011 monthly miles graph. So since November I've been going home the long way - had one bemused workmate wonder why I was cycling in the opposite direction to how I arrive lol, might do a lap around town, maybe a long lap around town adding 6-10 miles, and once a week a lap down to Southwater and back.

I only go directly home if its raining or blowing like a madman. Gotta keep the mileage up, might be able to find a job further way and need to maintain fitness!

I do between 16 and 36 depending on which of our sites I'm working at, usually it's around 25, very occasionally 45 if I have to travel between sites.

Two remarks; you'll be astonished at the weight loss and overall fitness improvement. I've been a keen leisure cyclist for 20 years. Health issues mean I can't drive from July this year till July 2012. I was amazed by the difference commuting makes.

Secondly get everything ready the day before, especially for the early starts. Mucking about getting the bike ready, making lunch, putting in the saddlebag always takes longer than you think even though they are all silly little jobs!!

I do 10 miles each way and work 12 hour shifts starting at 6am and 6pm. The earliest I have to set off is 4:45. Strangely I find i am more motivated to do that than riding in on an evening to start nights.

Not as much as I'd like

Works out about 4 miles each way, with a 15 minute train journey in the middle. I try to make it longer by going different ways through town but there's only so much I can do.

15 minute train journey?
Why not cycle the whole way?
