I see that many of you seem to go on regular long rides of 50 miles plus. I am just wondering how far do cc riders go on a ride. Myself, I hardly ever do over 40 miles. That seems to be my mileage and I am happy with that. I did 55 miles once but I don't feel comfortable when too far away from home. Most of my outings are between 20 and 40 miles.
So, be honest and tell us how far you usually go.

Anything between 30 and 65 for me. It just depends who I'm with and what we want to do. Working on 100 miles this year, so I expect I'll do some rides in the 75-90 range.

Current shoulder injury notwithstanding, 30-50 for a pleasure jaunt is the norm for me. Maybe a bit more or less. However, if a friend was doing a longer ride and wanted company I'd happily tag along.

As a kid I'd do 80-100 miles a day with my chums, visiting the airport to watch the planes, with not so much as a pump, puncture repair kit, or water bottle between us.

how far you usually go.
All the way!

Seriously though, my normal rides are just 10 miles. This is the shortest/quickest distance between home and work so probably 90% of my rides are just that. I will also try to get a leisure ride in a couple of times a month of around 30-40 miles and throw in a couple of centuries during the year. For some reason the rare centuries never worry me and I always finish without any major struggles. I did a single day 185 mile ride last year, the novelty was wearing a bit thin for the last 30-40 miles.......

Mostly the average is 20 to 30 miles or so on a leisure ride. Sometimes it's as short as about 5- 7 when I'm towing my kid behind me. At the other end of the scale, I do 60 miles occasionally, just a couple of times a year. It's hard to fit more in when you have children that you need to spend time with.

I mostly do short rides now, so around an hour or 15 miles. As the weather gets warmer I'll venture further or if there's a ride I want to do I'll push up the distance. I prefer frequency to distance and doing shorter rides helps me keep going through the year just because it's no chore to find an hour to go out.

Time limitations tend to make most of my 'me' rides around 30 miles, or whatever I can do in 2 hours. The monthly 100km challenge ride needs some thinking about slotting in when SWMBO is a work and kids at school, but even then I have to get back for the dogs. The recent 100km club ride was on a weekend so got a pass out, don't get them often...

20 to 30 gives me the fitness benefits I am after. I have done a lot longer but have no desire to do them again at the moment.

Due to having young children, I try to limit my longer rides to no more than 20 miles at a time. In the school holidays (I'm a teacher) I treat myself to the occasional weekly 60 miler. I have recently also made a move towards shorter, but more intense rides, which I believe to be just as beneficial - if not more so - as longer, more sedate rides, if improving fitness is the goal. As an aside, I used to be able to get up early on a weekend, quietly leave and squeeze in 20 miles and be back before anybody else was up. But since we got a golden retriever, as soon as I leave he now goes and wakes up my wife which then puts her in a bad mood as her lay in is ruined haha!

200+ mile rides on normal roads is seriously good going!.

I'm a 6 miles to work and back man myself, would like to start some Sunday riding but will have to work around family and kids.

Would probably buy a more road orientated bike if it was just me doing a few Sunday rides..
