Funny thing is, I've bought bikes that have been stood for 20 yrars and the original Michelin tyres are still holding good pressure.

On the bikes I top up about once a month, similar on the car but the front offside looses pressure more quickly than the other three.

The rate of loss will be a function of pressure, so a low volume high pressure road bike tyre will lose pressure more quickly than a high volume low pressure MTB tyre.

^^

I generally check all bikes once a week. The MTBs don't tend to need a top up. A Roadrat with 35mm Marathon Racers is the closest thing I've got to a roadbike and tends loose about 20psi over the week (85psi >> 60-70psi). The R20 folder looses air quite quick too, nearly as fast.

No tyre guage for me, just a thumb pressed into the tyre tells me everything I need to know pre ride..I dont tend to top up tyres for weeks on end, road or hybrid.

Tourer has lower pressure and 37mm tires, and seems to need topping up every week or so. The Austro-Daimler, on 23 mm clinchers, needs topping up before each ride, as I'm big, and don't wish any snakebite p%$#tures while riding.

I also pump up my tyres about once a week unless the daily pressure test with the thumb suggests otherwise. That's on the CX commuter, with the narrower road bike tyres I generally top up every other day just to be sure of the pressure at the start of the ride.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rate of loss will be a function of pressure, so a low volume high pressure road bike tyre will lose pressure more quickly than a high volume low pressure MTB tyre.

It will, and I guess that the relationship is not linear. That is, the rate of pressure loss at 4 atmospheres is more than double that at 2 atmospheres. So 110psi pressure will reduce to 100psi much more quickly than 50psi reduces to 40psi

Weekly for the Planet X(32 randonneurs),every couple of days for the Icarus(23 durano plus) if I'm riding it regularly and every ride on the Helium(25 Open Paves with latex tubes);the latex tubes do go down within a few hours of finishing a ride but it's worth it for the supple ride.
