How long should a bb last?

Just a quick question. There is slight movement in my crank arms and a clunk coming from my bb. I've ordered a new one. But I just wondered how long they should last. I've never replaced one on any other bike. My bike is just over a year old. I do about 100 miles a week 50 weeks a year with 50+ ride most weekends. I suppose I do do more mileage on this bike than I have on any other.
Just wondered if it was normal to have to replace it after a year.
Thanks

With that mileage and year round use that sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

My first BB on the touring bike failed after 49,350 miles! The poorer quality one on my first Brompton lasted 15,000 miles. It does depend on how you pedal! A strong power stroke, or more even pedalling pressure. 5,000 miles for a year's cycling seems to be a very short time in which to ruin one.

Thanks for the replies. I ask because when I first got the bike (specialized Tricross) I kept having to take it back to the shop, eventually it was sent back to specialised, and an annoying click was sorted. But it's back again after a year. When I took it out the bb did seem a bit cheap and plasticky tbh.
Suppose I'm after reassurance that it is the bb, and that it's normal for them to go this soon. I'll try the replacement and hope it was just one of those things.........

On my touring bike it went after 10,000 miles put a new one in that is still going strong after 26,000 miles +

quite - after a year of modest mileage as per OP sounds crap to me. That said, I am given to understand the modern improved types last far less time that traditional types

I have replaced a road bike bottom bracket due to wear usualy sold the bike before replacement needed, MTB on the other hand is a different story, the cartridge type last longer than the outboard ones ( one piece crank & axle) Shimano & Raceface outboard were not up to hard MTB use, I have fitted a hope which has been much better.
