Well, I'm here, and a non-man, but I'm not in London....

Does that help?

This made me chuckle..from your blog (hope you don't mind me pasting it here)

I'm flattered.

Perhaps there are more women in London on bikes but many seem to be of the floaty dress and a basket ilk. Maybe it's just because I'm in west London. Oh and yes I was on the FNRttC to Brighton and am excited about Bognor

I was wondering about the women thing just because I seem to get a few raised eyebrows when I mention I cycle and a lot of the time it's because I'm of the female persuasion. Plus I get a bit sick being patronised in some bike shops (not all), and the lack of reviews of women-specific gear so just thought I'd check my theory that actually there are tons of us, we're just not being catered for.

I'm female, I don't ride regularly and I'm not in London. But when I was riding regularly and in London, I used to see about 2 other female riders a day on average.

Who does that map thing of where CC people are based? Any way of telling where has more females?

Couldn't agree more about lack or reviews and generally lack of decent cycle specific decent looking ladies clothing

I was quite excited when Topshop got some cyclodelic stuff in but it was very expensive and really not that fab.

And there's nowhere to go when you want to know how lady-specific stuff performs.

As I don't fit into any of the categories I can only say that when I cycle down to West Brompton, I see many females on bikes in central London. A pleasant sight it is too.

There was one concession stand in the Oxford Circus store and it was very disappointing. Cycle Chic's good for accessories.

Tell me about it. I'm not only a woman, but a very petite one, so sometimes I feel I have to resort to jumping, screaming and running around the shop to get noticed in my local Evans in St Paul's. Meanwhile, the staff members smoothly switch from one suited City boy to another, explaining them the features of super-expensive bikes and knowing they'll never use them anyway, but hey, who cares, as long as they want to pay for it all. Oh well, that's life, I guess.

I'm female and wear pink (I have a gillet the same as Cathryn's which I saw on her Sound of Music tour write up). I'm hoping the pink stands out against from the other yellow hi-vis cyclists but also says - "oh female better give her extra space". But I haven't managed to do floaty properly yet... I have to roll up the waist of my skirts to cycle in them - then they look more like mini skirts. But I'm not London based.

I commute daily (when working - summer hols off), and I would say I normally see women though obviously more men, though it helps starting at school since its more likely to be female doing the school drop.

Quite a few of my female friends cycle too (not always so regularly as me) -some wear technical gear others just what they are wearing that day. I know of a friend that uses the Minx site for some of her clothing.
