I'm all for you coming on here and advertising cameras. The more cyclists we get out there with video cameras the better IMO. It's the sort of hard edged evidence that forces companies to take action with bad drivers, and it's bringing back a little power to cyclists.

I took my motorcycle CBT last weekend. Pulling up to a set of traffic lights I let the front wheel roll into this deep hole. I hadn't seen the hole because I was watching the traffic and paying too much attention to my clutch and rear brake.
The lights changed to green and all the traffic went except me. I was still stuck with my front wheel down that hole.

God knows what happens if you hit one on a motorbike at speed. The wheels aren't as big as a bikes wheels.

Couple of guys at work said they've been off'd on motorcycle by potholes. Dont know any details other than that in passing converse tbh. More reason for all road users to stand together.

The majority of the new ones have been filled in here,

same here. Manchester seems to be on a pothole filling run! (still waiting for the really dodgy ones on Oxford Road but can't have everything...)

Also pondering who the idiot was that went and raised some drains on the off-road cycle/pedestrian path down the back end of the university res - it's dark there, and the thing is tarred, and the drains are black, and now they're like bloomin' speedbumps.

*remembers to raise the point with the council*

Hybrid has been tucked away for now until the roads get better and the MTB is out with trail tyres and panniers.Must admit to enjoying it because you do not really have to watch the road surface as much on the chunky tyres, bit like driving a 4x4

Quick update on the potholes I reported. On the way home from work there was a council lorry on the road and all potholes on that road had been marked with spray paint and the workers were in the process of filling them in.

So either;

The local council are super efficient and responded to my reporting the pothole within a matter of hours.

or

Someone else had also reported them 2 weeks ago and the council have only just got sround to filling them

To be fair to the council, they dont have to resources to go out checking every single road, they do rely on the public letting them know where the potholes are. And when you can so easily report them online, theres no excuse for not reporting them.

Of course we will never know, but I do like to think that just maybe it was the first scenario

Wait - I've figured it out - there are one or two stretches on my ride home where I've thought 'wow, they've fixed some of that bad patch (I think)'.

I reckon what the pothole fillers have been told is only to fix it if the hole is more than xx cm deep (I seem to recall another poster saying this a short while back).

There are two spots on my commute where the whole thing is one big 'bump' - lots of smaller potholes. What they've done is patched only a bit of it and left the rest!!! surely that's not a long term fix?

The council are finally fixing up the nasty section of Athelstan Road (between the traffic lights). Even the temporary surface while they start the repairs is better than the original road. Looking forward to being able to accelerate away from the lights without getting bounced all over the place!

I know why they are fixing them quickly, they are worried about the amount of motor claims for damaged wheels and suspension to cars ! I have sold three new wheels for the cars i work with at an average cost of £600.00 a corner plus a geo setup at roughly £250.00 all since January

Just had four tyres on the car and 3 of the alloys are now totally out of round and took a lot of balancing.
The road in the video from the OP, I'd kill for a surface as good as that. No kidding. Kirklees roads looks like Beirut.

I just started cycling about 2 weeks ago. Went out on a non suspension bike. The potholes I encountered made me seriously worry about damaging my back, so I've now got a full suspension bike!

Well they seem to have fixed a bit of road (Kellaway Avenue) I didn't have a problem with... ok a large puddle formed in one of the places but the surface was still fine, where as there are plenty of other places that I would rather they fixed first where the surface is actually breaking up.
