Depends on what im doing.

If im out working in the van/on the bike. I keep a £100 float with me in a locked cash tin.
If im just out on the bicycle £5 in the form of 1 x £2 coin 2 x £1 coin and 5 x 20p as a just in case.
if im just out in general, the same as above.
I dont take my debit card out with me unless i am deliberately going out to do the shopping, we try to keep spending as low as possible and wont just nip to the shop for little things unless we absolutely need them. The vehicles get fueled twice a week and if Im going out on a longer trip I calculate how many miles im going to do, how much fuel ill use and then take the appropiate amount of monies with me to pay for said fuel.

Rarely less than £30, up to a lot. A comfort thing I

Same here, rarely less than £30, sometimes up to about £80. I like to have a safety net, for my own purposes, and others'. There have been lots of occasions when a taxi, for me, or someone else has been needed unexpectedly.

I now have a contactless card, but have not used it yet.

An antique dealer friend feels uncomfortable with less than £500 in cash, for those little spot purchases. I'm happy with far less.

Generally between £20 and £100. I don't like paying for smaller purchases by card, and I have a slightly bolshie feeling that I'd rather not have all my transactions recorded and stored by big companies for their own use.

I never leave the house without some money, but how much?

Going back a few years, I aimed to have £50 or so.

Increasing acceptance of card payments for small purchases means I now carry less, but still like to have a note or two in my pocket.

How much cash do you usually carry?

Zero.

I haven't carried cash for decades.

It varies between 0 and 30 most of the time. The kids can suddenly make a run on my purse though now they have cards themselves that happens less often. I usually need some cash each week to pay for my Pilates class (cash only).

Usually nothing. Someone gave me some cash a while ago and it spent months in my wallet before I realised it was there.

Currently (counts up the coppers) £4.95. Typically between a couple of quid and about £40, although I'd normally only have as much as £40 if I'd just been to the cashpoint and knew when I took money out that I was going to be buying something over a tenner in the following day or two - otherwise I tend to take out less. Having been a bit skint the last few months I'm tending to do most of my food shopping online and any in-person spending with cash as I find it easiest to keep track that way and if the money isn't in my purse then I find it much easier to not buy. Or possibly easier to buy mindfully. Mind, I used the debit card to do the Christmas present shopping today.

At church the other day for the Christmas Carol Concert. Bag came round (collection for the local hospice) and I hadn't been to the cashpoint for ages. So I emptied the few pennies in my pocket into the bag.
So walked home with not a single penny on me.
Usually, I carry more than this!
