How much cash do you carry?

Usually I carry a fiver or a tenner but also carry the card and prefer to use that rather than carrying change.
Edit: If I am going to meet mates for a meal or drink I'll carry a little more but not a fortune maybe £30-£60.

Its very much a cash economy here in Ghana. Its very odd but nobody ever seems to have change, maybe a shortage of small denomination notes. Always draw out a couple of hundred US dollars and change it. The poor old GB pound has been suffering a bit of late.

Less than I used to, particularly in the sophisticated metropolises such as Sunderland and Middlesbrough where it's possible to get by on card alone.

I always have a card and a note with me on the bike.

Last time I forgot the note, a corner shop wanted to charge me an extra £1.50 for paying by card for about six quid's worth of food and drink.

That used to be common, but is now probably against some consumer regulation or other.

Not much chance of getting it enforced in a County Durham former pit village where the folk are, shall we say, independently minded.

Here for rides.
About 15-20 quid and a few pound coins, but here in Norway, very few people use cash. Some will buy just a can of drink and pay with a card.

I use cards for shopping and buying fuel, but if I was having a beer (very rarely) I use cash.
One of the bars local to me in cph was Danish cards or cash only. Forenz weren't exactly welcome.

I tend to take £100 out of the cash machine at a time and top up when required.

Sometimes it will last me the best part of the week and sometimes a few hours especially if my wife and kids are around!!

Having read this thread I now realise why modern wallets are so small, the modern man doesn't carry much paper money. Last time I went to buy a wallet I complained to the assistant about the small size of the ones on offer and said I want one similar to this....showing him my threadbare old wallet.
On seeing it he replied "Wow! These were cool in the 70s sir.". Cheeky young whippersnapper:biggrin:.

One of the claimed benefits of paying with cards is that it's supposed to be easier. But why is it so damned slow? Every time I'm queueing to pay for something and the people in front of me are paying with cards, it always takes longer than to pay with cash.
