I've just been made chairman of the local Anglo-German club and as a result would like to be able to send emails to a number of people simultaneously. I typed in one email address in the "To:" box and a number of others in the "cc" box as follows: address space address space etc etc.

This got rejected with a demand for a proper list. Is there some sort of punctuation which I am missing?

A semi colon ' ; ' between each address is the normal seperator.

Also send it to yourself and bcc it to everyone else. This means everyone on the list does not have access to everyone else's email addresses, unless those people have specifically given permission for it to be released.

A couple of points, if I'm not telling you the blindingly obvious:-
- most email software lets you set up and name a list, so that you only have to put the names in once. Outlook certainly does.
- if you put all the remaining addresses as "cc", everyone can see everyone else's email address. That may not matter for a club distribution list, of course, but at the moment lots of us get e-cards etc where people just spew a copy to everyone on their Contacts list. Given that a Google search of an email address brings up a surprising amount of information, that's not always the brightest thing to do. Putting them all as "bcc" avoids that, I believe.

Use bcc otherwise you'll get a serious telling off. I'm not sure what the regs are like there but it is the case here.
