There was a TV show in Holland where they were trying to find the country's worst driver (I think there was something similar in the UK with Quentin Wilson). One test the drivers had to do was to accelerate, look behind, then safely swerve around an obstacle - it was supposed to be no harder than passing a slower vehicle on a motorway.

Here's what happened - incredibly, nobody was seriously hurt:

What type of retard actually volunteers to go on any kind of programme where you try to be the worst at something?

Husband, driver, diy, etc, there's been a whole sorry series of them over the years.

Sums it all up about the desperate X Factor type of person who'll do anything to get on tv.

If I remember correctly about the UK version, friends and family nominated you onto the show, you were trying to then prove you weren't the worst driver / admit your driving could be better and this was a way of improving

each week the person most improved was given a car as a prize and left the show

the prize cars wern't anything amazing - Mini, KA etc

the ''winner'' worst driver ended up with an Austin Maxi

That rings bells.
