Black still has to interact with light waves, it just doesn't reflect them. Surely by absorbing all the light waves (and by picking up all those photons) black gets heavier and therefore slower (for a given energy input)?
If we follow this line of thought, does that mean that white is what we want, as it reflects the most light? Or mirrored?

*Goes for lie down in darkened (possibly slow and heavy) room*

The logic is good although you have omitted to factor in the neutrinos. Once you do this you will see plainly that black is best! :wacko:

Well I've never heard of (or seen that before) Thanks!

Fakenger = Fake messenger.

There are many people in London who try and emulate the look of the messenger by riding a fixie and wearing a certain style of clothing etc. Messenger chic and all that. The bike shop that built this for me is Brick Lane Bikes, their bread and butter is serving the real messengers bikes and they specialise in fixies, hence the crosstop lever popular with cycle couriers. I have been tempted to change it as you cannot brake from the drops obviously but don't know if I ever will or not.

It was about £650 without the pedals. Not too bad really.

That's a bit like the sora shifters on my Allez I think - you can't easily shift up from the drops, but I don't often want to. Probably cos I can't. Usually I only reach around down there once I'm in the desired gear. I suppose it's a simple case of how much it bothers you adjusting your hands to brake.

Christ what a shite post (mine). Written it now though.

Accelerating on a fixed wheel requires a certain technique, but no it would not be faster with gears, you would be wasting time messing with them rather than on just getting up to speed.

I've heard this argument before and I still don't really believe it. It's not as if changing up gears is difficult - just a flick of the finger. Changing the front derailleur can sometimes require you to ease off a bit, but I rarely find that for the rear. At lights, it's start in a low gear - shoot forwards with a couple of strokes and then click, click, click, click as I run up the gears, pedalling hard. Sometimes I feel it takes a little too long to get into a high gear, but that's what a high cadence is for!

fake messengers! Say it ain't so!

I'm a cynical man but thats dreadful, no-one would be that shallow surely

That said, now my mind is prompted I do see the odd person on fixie in messenger gear that looks far too clean and neat

terrible
