Well, In Portsmouth, apart from some taxis (Aquacars !!) I rarely get any hassle from cars. So today, about 500m from the house a car comes past about 6 inches from my arm - wow what is going on. Caught car at next lights and noted - really old dear with a tiny area of cleared screen. I was about to tap her window, but she just drove off turning left - oblivious. A few km further on, steep hill, but wide and an estate car past closer the normal. I was pissed off at the time, but on reflection, I think it was the heavy frost and drivers were just driving blind.

The commute home tonight - nice and easy, indeed I felt I was getting more space. I was given a break at a difficult right turn over a 4 lane road. Arm out and driver flashed me to come across, quick wave of thanks, happy. Hope tomorrow is good - just damp, no frost forecast.

Program was good and well balanced. But the idea its a war is a load of shite in my opinion

Same as its been for most of the last thirty plus years, normal routine, the only problem this morning was cold feet.

I felt under pressure to stop at red lights. That's not to say I don't normally, just felt that people were looking at me today and it was up to me to show that cyclists could behave. I don't think I noticed anyone being more considerate, but equally no really bad driving either.

Somebody honked their horn at me for no reason as I pulled away from some lights. That hasn't happened for at least two years. Encouraged by last night's programme, I yelled "Wvnker!" after him and made an onanistic gesture for him to see in his rear view mirror. Did I do the right thing?
