In the grand scheme of things, pretty good.

On hold I'd say........ish...........with progress recently.

Family wise - son had trouble with school and bullying - that has been sorted now...... wife's mother has been stable this year (history of heart problems, then stroke the other year, but despite mobility issues etc. her heart is OK - now on right meds...........)

Me...... 2010 = on hold - i.e. waiting to see what happened about my shoulder injury from getting knocked off in December 2008. Now finally have surgery planned for March 2011.......exactly what I thought needed doing in mid 2009 after seeing physio - finally get the head honcho recently and he tests it and says lets sort it.......(lots of conflicting reading of MRI results in-between).....argh.....

Down side is being a fit cyclist (or a non-couch potatoe).... as they gave me funny looks when mentioning riding on the track, 100 mile rides etc......... but after two years, they have taken it seriously - looks like I need two procedures doing, although the second he'll wait and see, as it can de-stabilise the shoulder (which I've said I'm really worried about)..........

Had two cracking Sportive Rides in 2010 - Chesh Cat came in top 120 out of 1500 that did 100 miles - chuffed as rode most of it on my own, but 2011 looks like it's about getting fit again after my op............

So Cat 2011 is out, Spud Riley is deffo out (but hoping I can now do it in 2012 - it's a very hilly 100 miler in the peaks) but hoping Manchester 100 in Sept 2011 is a goer.

Hope to be tearing round the Velodrome again ASAP.............

Blimey - I read TTs synopsis and then took a look back at my input into this thread and it looks like I'm being really smug. It wasn't meant to be.

Hope things continue to improve, TT (and to anyone else who has had a trying year).

Same here...I've had a few ups and downs [broken heart, leaving a job and place I loved, kitchen nightmares, interfering parents, being stitched up for 2 hours in A and E...] but nothing really lifethreatening-all the very best for 2011 to TT and all the rest of you who've had it really tough. Have an intreview in the Lakes coming up soonish so can't complain really  :hello:  :wahhey:

Busy ... really, busy ... lol ... and the usual ups and downs.

Lost the father-in-law in February after his 15 year fight with the big C. Tough as old boot nails he was, and he managed to outlive all his siblings and squeeze enough out of it to see all his Grandkids enter the world.

An unforeseen change in personal circumstances led to us having to shelve the house sale (again) this year, and the uncertainty of whether Mrs. Admin's job will still be there in the new year is hanging over us too.

Butlins during the summer holidays. Oh wow. There's a never-to-be-repeated experience. Next year - Center Parcs ... yeah!!

Cycling wise, haven't got any consistency back into my cycling at the moment (again, due to those unforeseen changes of circumstance), but really enjoyed the FNRttC and can't wait for the next one; and ejoyed a few jollies out with the East Yorks CC Chapter too, who I must get out with again sometime soon ...

For CycleChat itself, well ... that's been one hell of a ride this year ... although the jury is still out on whether it was a good move or not? Hopefully next year can be about grounding myself a bit more and focusing on the key area of the site and making that bit work really, really, well.

Health wise me and the family are all okay, so I couldn't ask for more on that front, and maybe in the new year I can try to get back on the bike a bit more and get back to fitness again.

Overall, not a bad year, but not where I hoped I'd be at the end of it. A lot of treading water this year, so I'll have another go at making next year a "doing" year.

Cheers,
Shaun

I hope for a better year next year for everyone... and other people's comments on this thread makes me realise that whilst I may not have had the best of years, it's by no means abysmal either, somehow it seems to be a bit of a plodding year .. no dramatic highs or lows ... and a few annoying health issues. I feel as if I'm becoming more aware of getting older and I didn't expect this in my 40's ... having managed to avoid my GP for years at a time, now I seem to becoming more of a frequent flyer!

I've cycled throughout the year but mostly commuting rather than fun ... and haven't really kept an eye on my total mileage as I suspect I have not met my goal for this year and probably cycled less than last year. Only 2 visits from the fairy ... last one was yesterday and I couldn't be bothered to look at it yesterday... I think that sort of sums up my year .... Couldn't be bothered!

Pretty good, by and large. Much like all the other years, really. I and Ms RT just keep trundling through life with no particular goals, taking each day as it comes. It'd be nice if she could get a job sometime soon, but other than that, 2010's been ok.

Shite. And I'm losing my job in 2011, so more shite to come. Only my kids keep me on an even keel tbh.

Mostly good for me.

Highlights - definitely JoGLE - at a very relaxed schedule, leading a group of teenagers.
First few Audaxes 100, 150, 200
first FNRttC... and especially meeting other CCers

business wise, after many delays finally signed up a new customer for my business, which hopefully will enable us to pay off some debts.

My year started off ok until my cycling accident back in October, in which I broken my collar bone. It is ending on a sad note as my dog is very unwell and is on medication to help him walk better.

Worst year of my life so far!!!!!!

Been ill for a good part of it, diagnosed with diabetes in November, (straight on insulin), fell on the ice and damaged my back, being made redundant in the new year, so is my wife, our youngest daughter is an alcoholic, mother and mother-in-law have been diagnosed with dementure and father- in-law has emphysema.
Next year we will probably lose our house along with our jobs, so there is definitely scope for it to be even worse.
And no, I'm not making it up!

Glass half full or half empty?
Drink contents, problem solved.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
largely a good year for me, but maybe some of that's down to me being a pacoderm. Fambly's good and healthy, (if a little under-employed, but ho hum), riding's been mostly good (which is more than you can say about my punctuation), work's never been busier.

To those who've had a bad time- keep on grinding. You'll get there.

Blimey - it's hard to say anything positive about all of that, other than I hope that somehow you get a run of better luck in 2011!
