Are all hub dynamos the same width?

The reason I ask is because I want to fit one onto the front wheel of my Koga Roadchamp to run a Busch and Mueller light.

The wheel that is on now is a Shimano RSII with a 700 x28 tyre.

I have found this wheel on e Bay Germany which has a Shimano Hub. Can anyone tell me if this will fit my Koga. I am finding all the information but I would just like someone who knows to tell me it will fit, as I am not too clever about these things.

This is the hub that is fitted.

I would have thought that they are all spaced for a front wheel, i.e.an OLN of 100mm

Steve, there are several ways of answering your question. As far as I know, all hub dynamos for 700c wheels have the same width but there are narrower one's around, primarily for folding bicycles.

However, this does not necessarily mean any 700c hub dynamo wheel will fit your particular bike because the width of the rim may be an issue. If you had a road bike with very limited clearance, not every rim may fit.

The hub dynamo on ebay is attached to the wheel and is going for less than a tenner at the moment. If it doesnt fit I can always hang the Christmas lights off it in the workshop.

I can probably sell the hub dynamo and make a small profit.
