Hi,
I bought a Scott Sporster (XL size), the chain and cassette is wearing out and the bottom bracket needs replacing done about 2000Km. It came with real low end Shimano Acera and the like, so I want to replace the whole shooting match Pedals, Crank, hubs, derailleur etc I would like to know what sort of set up people use on their hybrids. Would be looking to spend 150 to 200 quid.

I do about 2000Km per year on roads, paths, tracks on this bike

Regards

Jon

What is the rear wheel OLN spacing which will govern whether you buy road or MTB hubs? The sky is the limit on what you could replace it with. But having said your budget is only £150-200 you might find that all you are able to replace the transmission and hubs with is the same low budget components that have just worn out. Are you fitting them yourself or giving your bike to an LBS to carry out the work?

I'm in a similar position, but I'd like to replace my Acera crankset with Shimano Deore LX (HG70) but keep my Altus 10 shifters and derailiers. Anyone know if this is advisable or even possible???
