From "up north" and 6ft so sadly not an option.. Something close to what I posted is what i want. They do have 2 similar ones with front suspension but not sure how much a pair of rigid forks would be
where oop north

I was hoping for higher spec, but even up to £600/700 a lot of the bikes don't seem to be that much different in the hybrid range. For my commuting to work it should be enough. If I decide to do longer rides then I'll have saved enough to upgrade the parts
There's a LOT more to "different" than the spec sheet! Looks a nice bike tho... On my first foray into road bikes four years ago, the pinnacle was my fave of the test rides I did, beating gt, felt and cannondale. Tho I did not buy it.

After riding it for a full week to work I'll give my initial impressions:

If 12.9kg is the actual weight of this bike (I don't have a way to accurately weigh it) then I'd say it was slightly too heavy. Gears & brakes have worked fine with no issues so far. The seat is very uncomfortable and maybe I could "break it in" but there's decent saddles for less than £35 available so that might be a better option?

SKS mudguard were a bit of a hassle to fit with the front disc brake in the way.

For £300 it's probably decent value but the original price of £450/405 would be too much for this, in my opinion.

Get on the bathroom scales with the bike.

Just as a matter of interest. Why was the disc brakes the main clinching point for the bike? The reason I ask is that I hate them and wont buy a bike with them on.

Cost is not a determining factor of the comfort of a saddle, it's down to your anatomy and preference. It's trial and error really

Hi vickster. To quote your statement :- "Cost is not a determining factor of the comfort of a saddle, it's down to your anatomy and preference. It's trial and error really"

Cost when it comes to saddles is very much a determining factor - find an expensive one and then one that is identical to the eye and tape measure one that is bottom end (Pardon the Pun) and ride both for any reasonable length of time. Your arse will soon tell you!!!!!!!!!!!!! even if the measurements that surround the anatomical factors of ones body are correct.

I ride Selle Italia and with the exception of my very very early days of Unicanitor and then a Brookes Swallow I have not ridden anything since.

It is all about 'SIT BONES' and the pressure relief channel positioning, width and length.

Go to a Specialized Specific dealer and they will have a Polyether Foam pad for your backside to park on. This will give a reading of the pressure points SIT BONES.

Explain then why my £30 saddles are as comfortable for me as my £70 Selle Italia saddle and £80 Specialized saddle (bought following a sit bone measurement at a Specialized Concept store)]As you state it's the shape not the cost ...a sit bone measurement will not tell you which shape of saddle is right, only the width of your sit bones to start trialling saddles

There are plenty of people perfectly happy on £20 Charge spoons who cannot ride on Brooks, Fizik etc?

I find the right padding in shorts/knickers/tights actually far more of a comfort influencer

I chose them because you're suppose to get slightly better control with them and should be less maintenance.

The Charge Spoon has LOTS of positive reviews online, surely it has to be comfortable for "everyone"?

Nope, not all  But it's cheap and worth a try, you won't lose more than a few quid if it's not for you and you need to sell on
