The only benefit you will have with Ultegra is a marginally weight saving, which in the real world you'll never feel anyway.

PS: it's always cheaper to replace 105 than Ultegra bits as well

I guess I can replace the ultegra bits when they wear out with 105 if I'm feeling retro.

Just in case nobody else has raised it in fairly sure the px bike is using the same frame as the Ribble carbon that everyone love. If I could muster £1000 I'd snap up the px bike then plan to upgrade the frame within a couple of years maybe.

I've got a very cheap old frame with very old Ultegra and Dura Ace and love the shifts.

but i guess carbon is more fragile in a crash, for example, than aluminium, but i really don't know.

If carbon was more fragile in a crash they would not use the material so extensively in Motorsport such as F1 and aircraft construction.
