Yes @Rickshaw Phil, that was exactly it!
I thought it might be. When I was still running the rickshaw I met a couple who had hired one. It looked a fab bit of kit and they were contemplating buying one of their own.
And here is a wee pearl for you. :hello:
Very nice, I only knew about the ones in Edinburgh. They're using Cycles Maximus trikes too.^_^ Saved to my favourites so I can see how they get on.

I remember when my daughter and I first paddled together in an open canoe, after many years of each paddling our own individual kayaks, there was a similar situation. In an open canoe, the person in the back does the steering, whilst their view ahead is completely obscured by the bow paddler, who in turn is wondering why the pillock in the back can't see the blinking great rock / log / sandbank that they are heading straight towards.....

Happy days!

Nice!

I'm rubbish on an upright tandem, due to fear as a stoker, and lack of strength as captain, so if NT and I ever went the tandem route, it would have to be recumbent, trike style.

Only reservation is that the pilot's at the back and has his view obstructed by the person at the front.

It doesn't look like that to me. Compare the saddle heights; the front rider's head is going to be just above the pilot's hands, so well below his line of sight.
