Isn't this about the law allowing us to exercise common sense for once? You look at the road and decide for yourself where you think the safest position is and then ride there.

I don't like riding right next to the kerb myself, that's where most of the potholes live.

Wow you were lucky. My big fear with this is that they'll abort and swerve into me.

Which is why as soon as he started passing me I braked hard...

I'm still not happy. The more i think of this the more it riles me! That idiot was inconvenienced for about 1 minute of his life, while my action,to me were preserving my life. Even if he had managed to get in front of me he would have probably have had to slow down to give way to oncoming traffic,as the road is quite narrow at the bottom. Therefore i would've had my path blocked just because he had to overtake and prove a point! I wonder if the idiot looked up primary and secondary riding positions when he got home?

You don't really want to know the answer to that.

I know it's easy to say, but don't let it get to you. There's nothing you can do about it and the driver probably forgot all about it 30 seconds after he drove off.
Trust in khama and think happy thoughts.

Yeah, don't sweat it accy, if that knobend driver hadn't encountered you he would have got home and booted the cat, some people are just Not Nice, don't let them live in your head rent-free.

My niece overtook me a few weeks ago - I was doing 30 down hill on a fixed wheel. She was doing about 50. Did 'casually' mention it in front of her mum and her sister (my two Sister -in -laws) a week or so later. SIL who wasn't the mum, mentioned something about 'knowing the road', and I might have mentioned the stone wall at the bottom !!:whistle:

My niece is a young female nob in a car.

There i was yesterday going down this road at 31mph in a 30mph zone when the car behind blasted me on the horn. He eventually overtook, then i caught up with the fellow when he had to give way to oncoming traffic and asked him why he blasted me. He said that i was in the middle of the road stopping him from overtaking and that i should've been up to the kerb. I told him that i was riding in a primary position for my own safety as weaving back and forth passing parked cars wasn't as safe for me as cycling away from parked cars in a straight line. I also asked him why he felt the need to overtake me when i was myself breaking the speed limit. He wasn't impressed so i told him i'd been advised to ride in such a way by forum members on here:whistle:. Then i advised him to look it up on Cycle Chat about primary and secondary riding positions. I wonder if he looked it up?

So you were also breaking the speed limit.
