After beating my 'under 40 minutes' goal to cycle the 12.9 miles to work I set myself another little goal of cycling my commute with an average speed of above 20mph. Well, today I beat it!

Ride Time: 37:56
Stopped Time: 1:18
Distance: 12.88 miles
Average: 20.37 miles/h
Fastest Speed: 27.20 miles/h
Ahead of Best Ride: 1:05
Calories: 845

Mile 01 - Average 18.72 miles/h
Mile 02 - Average 22.04 miles/h
Mile 03 - Average 18.54 miles/h
Mile 04 - Average 22.91 miles/h
Mile 05 - Average 20.70 miles/h
Mile 06 - Average 19.92 miles/h
Mile 07 - Average 20.78 miles/h
Mile 08 - Average 19.83 miles/h
Mile 09 - Average 23.56 miles/h
Mile 10 - Average 20.15 miles/h
Mile 11 - Average 20.24 miles/h
Mile 12 - Average 19.51 miles/h

What can I say... Well chuffed!

What should my next goal be?

200 mph, just up by a single factor on a logarithmic scale

Seriously though, congrats. I'd have to jump a whole load of red lights to commute that quickly.

Good for you, well Done...

Guess I should set myself targets...

What software/cycle computer are you using please, out of interest, I have a garmin.

My commute to work is just under 10 miles and on the older trek road bike it takes me around 42-44 minutes whilst on the new carbon ride takes me around 39 I think maybe atad less.

Good effort. I'm just now cracking 20mph for my 18 mile commute which includes on big-ish hill and almost no traffic lights or roundabouts

Good job! I did the same on my 'downhill' leg recently. My new target is to do 20mph average on both legs combined (same day obviously). That is going to be much harder.

What should my next goal be?
There and back at the same speed. Eliminates the gradient/wind help/hindrance you might get on a one-way ride.

My best one-way flat ride was 4 miles at 26.4mph ... but I bet if I had turned back to slog into the breeze the average would have come tumbling down. It's sometimes disappointing when you think you've got your racing legs on only to discover that the wind has been making the difference.

Credit though for target-setting, and meeting it!
