And the worst thing was it was all my fault!
I left home at 7:20 ish this morning, a few minutes later reached the roundabout at the bottom of the nearest main road (Sonning roundabout for anyone who knows Reading). I signaled right and as I crossed the line noticed that the speedo was reading 21, had a moment of "oh that is a bit quick!" laid the bike in, and front wheel washed out.
Damage is... Roadrash on my face! not much skin on my right thigh and knee, various painful muscles in my right arm, shoulder and chest and a lot of minor cuts in various places. The bike suffered totaled handlebars, right brake lever, right shifter, pedal and mangled rear mech. There also looks like a crack in the head tube and the headset felt loose pushing it back, but I have not given it a proper look yet.
Also a certain damage to my pride at rush hour! Although many people did stop and help and one guy in particular who is a cyclist gave my face the once over to make sure I had not lost any teeth or anything (there was a blood dripping from my face!), so a big thank you to you all!
I am now going to take it easy for the rest of the day and if the worst comes to the worst I fancied a new bike anyway
