Nothing to do with cycling at all.
I booked a guitar lesson and it was brilliant. Same again next Thursday. She asked if I knew the bits and bobs on a guitar and what did what. I said that I did, I had remembered that much. She showed me pictures of finger positions of chords and I had remembered what they meant too so we got on with learning a couple of chords. D & A to be exact. I had problems with the D chord as the loaner guitar has a really wide neck and I have quite small hands. But I got by and worked it out by moving the guitar a bit to make my hand fit a bit better.
The teacher lady is emailing me the bits that I learned today so that I can practice. She said that I had picked it up really well and very quickly.
I ended up at PMT in Norwich today, after visiting 2 or 3 other music shops and a couple of hideous experiences over the last 2 weeks, and went in and asked for help and advice. I was a bit nervous but a lovely chap took us off to the acoustic section of the shop where we discussed budget, lack of experience, what music I like and so on and so forth and he then took down about 8 guitars, 1 at the bottom end of the budget, 2 at the top end and a few in the middle and then said "go for it, I'll leave you to it and yell if you need help" I learned 2 new chords too but have no idea what they were. The first thing I noticed was that the necks were thinner so I didn't struggle with a D chord at all, or the other 3 and spent a happy couple of hours with my exceedingly limited playing, discovering that hubby knows 4 or 5 chords too (I had no idea until today) and narrowed it down to 2, then went back 2 hours later and bought this.
It sounds nice, it feels nice, it was on offer and I think that it is a thing of beauty. Unable to do anything like practice or learning tonight as downstairs knocked on at 6.30pm and said that our chatting (not loudly) was keeping her awake and could we stop the dogs walking around as its frightening her cats and keeping her awake.
Tomorrow morning when she is out though, for sure.
