This is so wrong. It just exacerbates the whole situation and escalates the whole them and us thing.

Why not just smile and get on home thankful for not being killed. It's amazing how liberating it is rather than fuelling yourself with anger.

I would have gone with the choice words and the bit of hitting.

I think you made an error of judgement in my opinion and would hope that next time you'd handle things differently. I don't think you should be vilified for this as everyone makes mistakes and I'm sure people disapprove of my method of dealing with these situations (chase them down, follow them tapping on the drivers window). Just live, learn and move on.

That is absolutely disgusting and is assault.
Telling the driver the error of his ways would have been much more effective.

You spitting at him is not the alternative to crashing. Cross words and gesticulations are a common (more understandable) reaction to bad driving. Spitting is grim, grim, grim.

You should care "how it appears". EVERY cyclist that van driver sees from now on has had their "value" hugely diminished by what you did.

I am far, far from perfect and I consider myself a work in progress, but spitting.... please don't defend the indefensible.

The OP's use of the written word is unintelligble.

Has he spat on a driver?

I might be old fashioned but I'd rather punch someone than spit on them.
Not that I'm advocating cycling around punching folk of course.

I remember a few years back during a world cup tournament when a Dutch player spat in the ear of a German player; Jack Charlton commented that it was so disgusting he would have chinned the Dutchman.

It was Frank Rijkard who spat in Rudi Voller's hair both before and after they were both sent off during a game in the 1990 World Cup.

Yeah cheers Adrian i knew the names but not how to spell the Dutchman's. I felt like i wanted to chin the filthy thug too.

Its common assault I belive, maybe one of the boys in blue on the site could verify that.

Absolutely disgusting and no excuse for it under any circumstances. Personally I would hope WVM reported it and that the police took swabs using a 'spit kit'.
