I don't want an X Box, I wouldn't know how to use one and they sound so mind numbingly boring!

Racing simulator. Bit like an automotive version of The Matrix - pick any track, any car and drive it like you stole it 🏎️

Blimey. Didnt know that was a thing, but looking at it now I know what it is that makes sense. Its a whole new world out there!

One that we were never invited to!

However, I did used to do it in actual reality 20 years ago.

Yep, online racing is a bit of a thing now. I hadn't realised until last year when a mate said let's try this place that rents them out by the hour and we liked it so much we decided to build our own. That said, we used to do real life track days back in the day so were always petrol heads.

If your an F1 fan several of the drivers race on their own setups, can even race against them if you fancy your chances!

Several years back I was admin on a Forza Motorsport website, we'd have weekly completions, painting competitions, tuning competitions and of course lots of arguments about who hit who lol

Car I painted for a NASCAR competition

Volvo S60 I did for a touring car competition (touring car was the most popular, 1 season we had over 50 entrants!)

Not sure I'd fancy being lapped by Max Verstappen...I'll be racing my mate who has a similar set up and also (as you may know) you can get some of the games to provide AI opponents and you set their level of skill and aggressiveness so that it's an even contest.

These Sims do work. My son has spent thousands of hours on farming sim and Eurotrucker as well as racing games. He's just passed his HGV licence first time and aced the reversing test. He's also quite handy on a real racing track.

According to pro drivers they are very lifelike - clearly you can't simulate g forces but the tracks, the feedback etc are close enough for professionals to train on them.
