my sisters husband had to lock away knives and other sharp things as she has dreams where she is being attacked so she gets a knife and fights back . she has shredded curtains and clothes in the wardrobe a dozen times or so throughout the last 20 years and giving him more than one black-eye and split lip . not surprising they split up 2 years ago .

I once dreamt I was eating marshmallows.

When I woke up, my pillow had disappeared!!
I bet you felt a little down in the mouth afterwards.

With grateful thanks to the producers of Bedknobs and Brooksticks. Which may I add, I sat through umpteen gazzillions of times because the kids wanted to watch only that.

I have had loads of weird and wonderful dreams over the years, some of which I can remember. Along with the teacher hoovering one mentioned above, there were others when I was a kid such as the day a little grey cloud came along and tried to fly off with the car, but the car was too heavy for it, so it eventually had to declare defeat and flew off in a huff, or the one where I died (I got murdered in some sort of big TV shoot out) and was annoyed that I was dead but nobody had told me. Over the years, I have avoided ICBMs, been in a deep sea submersible with a Giant Squid, been to space on a day trip to the Moon, I once met a bunch of aliens who had just landed here, and took them to see the Pope so they could speak with God (their request), heck, even my (old) Dog spoke to me in one (oddly he was wearing a baseball cap at the time).

MDB, you are me and I claim my five pounds. I have amazing and bonkers dreams and really enjoy them. I can also do lucid dreaming - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream - there's some controversy over this, ie is it just waking up a little bit and then going back to sleep (I prefer mundane solutions, but there was a great article in New Scientist about it about 18 months ago). I used to have a recurring dream when I was a child about being chased by dinosaurs around the garden and house - really scary and related to stress. I'd get that heavy legs thing where you can't run.

Then when I was a bit older I started having the dinosaur dream one night, and I distinctly remember in the dream thinking to myself: "this is silly - there are no dinosaurs - I'm not having this", I sort of "stopped the dream", possibly by turning over, and never had it again.

I have lots of dreams returning to places - dream places which I seem to like revisiting. As you say, cheese optional.

I don't seem to return much, if at all, my dreams are different every time.

As for Lucid dreams, oh yes, I get those!!
Also I get sleep paralysis where I seem to wake up whilst still asleep as it were, but can't move or open my eyes. I just have to wait for my body to catch up, and it frightens me slightly as it occurs to me that it could be a bit dodgy if I was knowingly in immediate danger whilst not being able to react in time.

I sometimes 'wake up' and talk like I'm still dreaming for a few seconds before coming round, confusing people. I rarely can remember what I just said either.

I dreamed that I was back at my parents house and that my Dad was yelling at me to put my shoes away. It must have been a stressful dream because when I woke up in the morning, Hubbies hiking boots and my slippers were put neatly in the bath and I found my diary and biro in the fridge.
I have been known to sleepwalk when I am under a lot of stress so must have done it the other night.

classic will be along in a minute, claiming to be all of you

About a week ago I dreamt I was being led along the North Somerset coastline by an unknown journalist after a massive storm. The pier was ruined and we kept walking along until we ended up in another town, where she ended up guiding me up into a loft where Black Sabbath were jamming in the year 1970. I looked on thinking, blimey, you've got it all to come boys.

Yep, I love dreams...

Lad who worked for me told me he used to sleep-walk. It usually occurred when he was a bit stressed. The first night he stayed over at his fiancee's parents house he got up, went to the toilet, went back to his bedroom in the usual place where his bedroom was at home and got into bed with his parents-in-law-to be... they think it's funny now.... his F-in-L even mentioned it in his Father of the Bride speech, much to his embarrassment... and now I've told you lot.

You are both wrong. You are ME.

I'm sure it would be lovely to be you, but imposs as I don't sleepwalk. Must be a weird experience!

Ever try controlling those dreams?
