I foiled a thief!

Leaving the Swan pub on Bishy Rd tonight with my mate and walking toward my Africabike I noticed a 'scallywag' bent down with a pair of bolt croppers about to have a go at my (£25 cable) lock. He spotted me as I made towards him and he legged it. I gave chase but his need to escape was greater than my ability to chase him and his accomplice. On the way back to my bike I noticed my mates bike just inside someones garden. Immaculate timing! Five seconds later they would both have been gone.

If were not allowed to possess guns can we at least have crossbows for situations like this?

'Tis the reason I was made with long legs and a fiery temper

I am thinking of starting a bike guarding service where i supply someone to watch over the bike for whatever duration. Blazeds Bike Bouncers, i will hire illegals so i can keep the cost low for the customer.

I Do Not Leave My Bikes Anywhere Unattended.

They're either under my bum or locked to a ring bolt in my locked, alarmed garage.

No! They take too long to load and don't have the range.

What you need is a LONGBOW...with a battery powered taser head!

Or for those of you who are feak and weeble and can't manage a proper mans weapon..
one of these

Hmmm, at the archery club I go to, most people would disagree with this. The longbow is the most innaccurate weapon you could possibly choose.

People who shoot compound are lucky to hit the X ring. People who shoot recurve are lucky to hit the gold. People who shoot longbow are lucky to hit the target.

I would recomment a compound for this task. No build time, small size, good sights, long range, accurate (but with a harsh weight penalty and high cost). If I know anyone selling one I will let you know.

Ps. Well done in keeping your bike.

I have four of them and I was thinking the same thing. I reckon I could hit a man at 50 yards but a nice compound at that distance and you could chose which rib to shatter on the way in.

Good timing, Mickle, and a nice save.

I'm horrified at the notion of using longbows, cross bows or any-other-sort-of-bow to try and kill a bike thief.

You should take off and nuke the entire site from orbit.
It's the only way to make sure.;)

I would have a FAIR chance at hitting him with my recurve, but he would need to stand very still, hold one end of a tape measure and give me a chance at a few sighters to get my eye in.

I wouldn't kill one with a bow either, but one of those pointy things with feathers attached that comes out the front at 300fps would make a good job of it. ;)
