I was knocked off by a car for the first time today, and at the most unlikely part of my route from home to university: 20 metres from the bike rack!
We were both at fault - the driver seemed to be in a bit of a hurry and turned left into me (I hit front of Micra car near driver's side lights), while I was in the centre of the driveway avoiding pedestrians on my left doing 22km/h.
My Pompino frame has a broken downtube, the front wheel is broken and I'll be needing a new brake lever. Unfortunately I was planning to use this bike for the BUCS hillcimb on Saturday.
I may not ride it anway as I've strained my left quads and sustained a bump on the head....yes I wasn't wearing a helmet - the <10% of my riding time where I don't tend to unless the road conditions are wet or slippery.
