To save space in my garage I suspend my bikes from the rafters using the front wheels on padded hooks. Can this damage the wheel?
Nope. Provided you're careful it's not at all injurious to the bike.To save space in my garage I suspend my bikes from the rafters using the front wheels on padded hooks. Can this damage the wheel?
Rear wheel, I find they just hang better like that.I always used to hang my bikes by the front wheel.
When I visited another member of this forum I noticed that he hangs his by the rear wheel, on the basis that there is "less stress" on frame and forks that way. I can see his point, but don't know whether it is significant really.
I still hang steel bikes by the front wheel, but the ones with carbon forks now dangle from the rear wheel.
Which wheel do you hang yours by ?

The wheel will be fine but just remember to take the bike down and spin the wheels every now and again or all the air in the tyre will settle to the bottom and you'll be in for a bumpy ride till it evens out again.
