I can just see the disappointment on Linfy's face when he sees that it's a mountain bike!

I've got 2 of those now. The 4x4 is more fun in the snow by a country mile than any 2 wheeler (MX bike excepted)

I have a 4x4 too...........but not a pansy one, a "proper" one, a '98 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L straight six. Cost me peanuts 3 years ago & although it's not used regularly it has proved very useful indeed, it's a real utility vehicle. BTW I have noticed it is smaller than a Mondeo and is dwarfed by pansy 4x4's.
I like the old square ones but not the new ones. It's getting pretty difficult to find a good example of one now and the petrol costs are too much too contemplate. I'd rather have one of them than an old draughty Landy though.

ANyway. We need an update from MrP. Is he out ploughing through snow and pedestrians in his new toy?

4x4s were stuck with all the other cars this morning. If you think that's more fun than snowy mountain biking, then that says a great deal about you...

If you are referring to all of the soft roading road tyred town cars littering Brizzle, then I would agree that they will struggle. Are the main roads clear down your way still ?

I take it you have never ridden an MX bike in the snow ?

Me, no, just up on the hills around my town.

The idiot is actually on trial today...lives op near MrP's sister on the far side of town.

FWIW, I think the bloke is a total bell end, and proved that not once, but twice

You're missing the point, which is that the capabilities of 4x4s this morning were entirely irrelevant.

Mine (1998) is pretty mint, these later ones had the galvanised chassis and last a long time. It does maybe 15mpg but, paradoxically, I find it very cheap motoring. Anything other than a Jeep or Land Rover, I wouldn't be seen dead in, the Jeep is way cheaper and more luxurious, I love it.

THere are soft roading cars styled to look like 4x4's, and then there are 4x4's which are built and are booted fit for purpose.

I can understand why you would get the two mixed up though....

Defenders are too agricultural for anything more than scratching, and the petrol ones don't like getting wet.
Have driven a 4L Grand Cherokee, and itwent well for the weight, but no idea how they might cope with off road conditions.

The Environment agency fleet off road vehicle of choice is the L200 and Shogun BTW
