The way a dog should look after a days exercise!!! Mind does fields only but a mate takes his dog to the seaside regularly, where it has great time chasing seagulls. And swimming out after them. They are easily pleased!!
How long have you had her?
What is her exercise routine?
I can't tell for certain but she looks like field not show?
She looks like she has a fair few years left in here.
I wander at the figures they give for life expectancy. Depending on the source you read it can be 10.5? to 15 years. 10.5 years insufficient exercise? 15 years tons of exercise?
At the moment mine (3.5 months) gets round 2.5 hours (not all at once) virtually all off the lead but she wants more. She wants to play as soon as she gets back.
I started obedience as soon as I got her....sit or no food!!
Her obediance improves daily although she struggles with stay when there are distractions. She is socializing daily other dogs and people. Need to get her to pub on Sunday. Loads of dogs and people. She struggles with bladder control when she meets people even ones she has met regularly. As I don't drive it will prove a problem. The trailers I have are appear to be unsuitable.
Puts the ball in my hand every time she returns it.
I am very hopefully she will make a very good working dog but still remain a pet. The pick up and return being the best proof.
I have year to improve her obedience. One of the most important things she has to learn is not to chase rabbits a very difficult one. I am worried only about her barking. There was an owl hooting 10 minutes ago (why isn't it in bed!!) and she was barking at it despite being in the house (door open).
We've had her since she was 10 weeks old, she's from a working background, but we've never worked nor shown her. She's never really walked well with a lead, there's always too much for her to sniff and check out! Fortunately we live in the country, so she can run freely in the fields behind us. She's slowing down a bit physically these days, but still does everything with 110%, but her hips let her down after a busy day.
She absolutely loves the water, sea, river, canal, muddy puddles, you name it, she's straight in! "Chasing" ducks is her favourite thing, she can take herself up the river for a good hour once she gets a sniff.
She doesn't return the ball to hand, but instead insists on posting it between my knees!
