By holding primary (hogging the centre of the road) through central London on Sunday. We stopped at traffic lights where he started to have a go. I just couldn't be bothered to argue back. When the lights changed I pulled away slowly and kept left waiting for him to zoom past. When I looked over my shoulder he was still at the lights picking up a fare and holding everyone behind him up . If I hadn't held him up he wouldn't have stopped at the lights and would have missed a fare. I never saw him again to ask for my commission.

The subject has come up in conversation with friends, including a cabbie, and they simply do not know why cyclists take primary sometimes. They just think we're being road hogs/obstructive for some reason or another. Most aren't cyclists, so don't see the junk/obstacles in the gutter, or the safety reasons for doing it. They need to be educated, but without publicity cyclists will continue to be castigated by uneducated drivers for trying to protect themselves.
I personally don't take primary very often simply because I don't feel able to when I can't get reasonably close to the prevailing traffic speeds.

Yes, I can relate to the lady in question.
We call them private taxis here: I live near hampden cars (the Glasgow equivalent of addison lee) head quarters, lucky me. A bummer area for cycling, but if you phone a taxi it comes in a flash

I didn't want to get onto the Addiscombe Lee bandwagon but I can't really believe I did that yesterday,although I was a bit alarmed,it's no excuse,im a better cyclist than that.IMHO

I may dig out the video today,but the footage from the test cam on the right fork looks more alarming.I hope I didnt delete it.
