When the same sort of thing happened to me I was wearing a heavy ruck sack! So with the help of gravity I did fall in an ungainly heap and ended up looking like an oversized beetle on it's back!

Oddly, I was up faster than I fell!

Why did you forget have your helmet camera on....?;)

Oh you'd all have loved that, slowing down, turning, jolt, squeak*, topple....

Mind you I fear it would have been too dark to see anything.

*that would have been me squeaking in terror.

Hackbike, quite right (the patient bit, not the old fart bit). 99.9 times out of a hundred I'd have got off and walked past. I think I was tired and not thinking properly.

Why would you call this your come-uppance? Surely you weren't doing anything wrong?

Oh, and I've been there, luckily both times off the recumbent, so not very far to fall.

Oh, OK, just saw that you meant to ride along the pavement. I misread that and thought you were just trying to get up the dropped kerb, which is perfectly fine. I'd still not think that deserving of a come-uppance though.

Saw a chap come off his bike in a very similar way today. I'll see if shows up well on the camera when I get a chance later. Strikes me that a few bits of footage showing cyclists coming off that way might be useful.

I've tried that, only to learn that my bunny-hop had myxomatosis. Splat.
