Quite lucky all the office areas get decorated but we don't do ours apart from a couple of decorations each around our desk .

A house around the corner have all the decorations up and working already

Every year we used to send out an email saying not to put tinsel around the monitors as it would cause screen burn or was a fire risk. Then we used to go around and remove any that was too close. We also had to remind people not to plug anything in that hadn't been PAT tested. Then we used to go around and make people take down any dodgy decos. It really was the best part of Xmas for me and just to cement our reputation, we didn't put any Xmas decos up unless forced to by the MD. Bah humbug.

I haven't sent anyone a Christmas card for years and Mrs SJ only sends a few. People have gradually taken the hint and stopped sending them to me, my aim being to eventually receive none at all.

Useless bloody clutter.

You could just move and not leave a forwarding address. Job done.

I stunned the office the other day by saying I didn't want decorations to go up. One little tree in the window will be fine, I said. The rest of the decorations take ages to put up, cause arguments and end up falling down in a couple of days anyway. Plus you've got to take them all down on the last working day (24th?) which is somewhat of a premature anti-climax (something my wife is used to).
