Just a quick update. I sent photos of my tyres to Schwalbe today and they've kindly agreed to send me a new pair of tyres which I think is very kind of them. 23s naturally.

Nope! Although the nice people at an online bike shop misinterpreted my order for Conti Ultra Gators and sent me the GP 4 Seasons instead. They survived the 135 miles to Brighton and back without a single cut!

Puncture, puncture, puncture etc etc.
Still no punctures. Just finished 3 weeks on the Marathon winter tyres in view of recent ice & snow. They'll stay on for a bit longer I think.

You'll be pleased to note I have finally had a PUNCTURE!
After about a thousand miles since the above, a little bit of sharp flint got through the All Condition Pro's on the road bike. However, that's not altogether surprising, seeing as others in the group had 3 other punctures due to the wet and crappy roads on the way to Cambridge, and the tyres themselves are getting on a bit, as they've been on for a year.
I expect the Marathon Pluses to keep protecting me on the commuter bike for many more thousands of miles without any punctures though.

My first bad (not slow!) puncture in a long time yesterday.
Commute into work. Cycled from home along Old Kent Road towards town, and ped passing told me I had puncture (nice of them) This was about 1.5 miles into 5 miles commute (to near Piccadilly Circus.) Didn't have spare tube or pump with me (woops!) Decided that pushing bike home and then getting bus would make me too late for work. Didn't want to lock my bike up by side of street on a Saturday night. So, I decided I would just walk into work pushing the bike. The light rain had gone by now, so was quite a pleasant walk. Unfortunately, by the time I'd walked to Whitehall/Horseguards the tyre was completely deflated and wouldn't spin anymore, so I could no longer push the bike. This bit I hadn't forseen in my just walk to work plan. So, I now had to carry the bike from here to work, and is one of the few times I wish I had a light frame bike, and not a heavy one. Was only half an hour late for work, which was OK, but I was sweating as much as I would be after a hot-summer's day cycle, and aching all over. I slept well last night!
So, if any of you saw me carrying a silver hybrid with butterfly handlebars through London yesterday, it was probably me. Thought this was the time for my first post to introduce myself, instead of just lurking!
I got some funny looks and comments from peds wondering why I was carrying my bike and not riding it.
It was certainly more of a workout than I had planned yesterday.
I have ordered some slime tubes, will carry a spare and a pump from now on just in case.

Guess what - I was right - after many more thousands of miles, I finally got a puncture in the Marathon Plus!!!! Went to get the bike out of the garage yesterday, and found the tyre was flat. I couldn't be bothered to change it, so I just put a spare winter wheel on instead, which has the Marathon winter studded tyres (so perfect for the icy conditions today).
